Part 1 - Dressing Casually

What do plaid suits, Hawaiian shirts, muscle tees, and a gang of gold chains have in common? Underneath this collection, lies a man who is not only fashion impaired but destined to create the following thought in the minds of women in the first 10 seconds of a date, "Where is the nearest exit?"

First impressions only happen once

In just 10 seconds, your date will form an opinion based on what you have chosen to wear, before you even open your mouth. Of course, you can either upgrade or downgrade this first impression with your actions and words.

The following is a list of definite no's no's for every dating scenario.

What Is a Casual Date?

A casual date would be any event where there is no formal event or place with dress codes such as sports , coffee bars, cafes and casual restaurants where jeans and shorts are allowed.

Although you may have more choices and less restrictions, nevertheless, there are still some casual dating negatives and positives.

Negatives

Hawaiian shirts. This item as far as we are concerned should not be donned until you reach the age of 65 and have moved lock, stock and barrel down to Florida where you can sit on the beach against a palm tree and remain in camouflage.

Ultra tight jeans. Believe it or not, there is a large percentage of women who love to see a tight butt on a man, but tight, tight pants which prominently displays your family jewels, makes us wish you would lock the vault forever.

Muscle shirts. If you're trying to impress us with your pectorals, forget about it because the the smell of a hairy armpit is not an aphrodisiac.

Baseball Caps. The only reason my dates have wear baseball caps was to cover up the lack of hair. If you wore a hat when you first met, don't wear one now. It is better to discover at the beginning whether or not your lack of hair is a real turn-off for your date.

Ripped Jeans. Although considered a fashion trend by many, it is best to keep those items for another date once you are more acquainted.

Lycra. Unless you are planning a date in which the two of your are engaged in bicycling, tight lycra spandex shorts is considered by most women to be a turn-off rather than a turn-on.

No Underwear. This applies particularly in the case of men wearing shorts which when seated across from his date, allows her to have a view of him "letting it all hang out". Please keep your privates out of view in public recommendit by Meet-Babes.com .

Part 2 - Dressing For the Club Scene

The club scene is all about "being seen" whether you are taking a date or arriving solo. Age, interests and income determines what type of club you choose to frequent and therefore, what type of attire is appropriate.

Dress to impress

Fashion Bombs

Planning to dance a lot? Then please be generous with the deodorant.

Want to score some negative points, then by all means, don't shine them shoes.

If you sweat profusely, please leave the leather at home for a less energetic evening.

Mesh shirts are only sexy if you're in shape - love handles and beer guts magnified are not that appealing.

Not sure what the dress code is? Then leave the jeans at home.

Bring a jacket for those cool nights just in case your date may need additional cover - you'll score extra points for this act of chivalry.

Make sure your hands and fingernails are clean as they'll face close inspection should you choose to hold your date's hands.

Always wear clean underwear, not because you might be in an accident, but just in case things heat up. There's nothing less sexier than boxers with skid marks.

Women hate to be underdressed. Always tell your date ahead of time what the dress code is.

Cologne on a man is so sexy, but bathing in it is a real turn off.

Club Date Etiquette

A club of date is less intimating than a coffee date, blind date or dinner date as there will be less time to talk, music to set the mood and alcohol as a stimulant to help loosen inhibitions.

But regardless of what type of venue you take your date, you should pay heed to the following dating etiquette for clubs.

1. Do not stare at other women. The goal in getting a woman to like you is to make her feel special. Nobody feels special when they their date is oogling other women.

2. Do not scream over the music. If you want to have a lengthy conversation, find a seat away from the music in a quiet corner, or take your date out for coffee afterwards.

3. Don't drink too much. Being too tipsy will not only make you a road hazard, but will convey a bad impression.

4. Don't spend too much time with your friends. If you take your date to your local hangout, you will no doubt run into a lot of people you know. Introduce your date to your friends, exchange a few pleasantries for a few minutes, but then return your full attention to your date. Inviting your friends to sit at your table is a no-no.

5. Don't take your date to a place where you have a lot of ex-girlfriends who harbour animosity towards you. Even if you don't acknowledge your ex-girlfriends, your date will not have a hard time missing the venomous daggers that will come your way.

6. Don't turn into a eight armed octopus. No means no. Even though the date may be going well, it's still tacky to neck on the dance floor.

7. Unless you and your date have agreed beforehand to go Dutch, pay for everything. One of my dates made me tip because he did not bring enough money - tacky.

8. Always ask your date to dance. She'll assume you want to dance because you have chosen this venue and will wonder if you like her if you don't dance with her.

Type of Venue

Rhythm N' Blues lounge. Real home grown and rustic jazz where the decor is minimal and the music hot and heavy needs no fashion borders but home grown blue jeans, jean jackets and tees.

Sophisticated Jazz lounge. If this this the place where you could picture Ella Fitzgerald or Billy Holiday, then you've got to shine your shoes, put on your dress blues and turn up the smoothness.

Dinner Club. AAah, the air of romance certainly surrounds you if you've chosen this venue. Dress well, buy her roses, write her love poems and pull out all the stops.

Dance Fever. Got happy feet, choose shirts made of materials that breath and shoes that will not leave your feet unhappy after a night tripping the light fantastic.

Hip Hopping All Night Long. If you be likin' this music, then I have no advice, but to party and never you mind what you wear as long as you can be happy and make your girl happy too.

Head Banging. Other than orange hair and torn jeans, the attitude is in the music and not the clothes
