What is Diabetes?

Who does not fancy a sweet dish after meals, we bet everyone, sweet dishes are the foods that do not need space in the stomach but heart! Well but to go by facts, many people in all parts of India cannot afford to enjoy the luxury of having a sweet dish after a meal. Because of high levels of glucose in the blood or what is commonly known as high blood sugar level, causing the very renowned disease known as Diabetes.This disease has engulfed 9% of the urban population, and 3% of the rural population in India is also under the influence of this easy to catch diseases. So this is not just a common disease, but in fact, a very grave one as eventually many people are getting affected by this disease. Types

Type 1Type 1 is an autoimmune condition in which the immune system of the body mistakenly attacks the beta hormones of the pancreas that causes the secretion of Insulin to slow down and even stop in some cases. The damage caused is permanent.

Type 2Type 2 diabetes starts with Insulin resistance; that is, your body is not able to cope up with the demand created for Insulin. This is because of low levels of insulin secretion, which increases the levels of Blood sugar.

Gestational Diabetes
Gestational Diabetes is a hormone-blocking condition that occurs only in pregnancy when the body is unable to secrete enough Insulin.

Cause of type 1 diabetesType 1 diabetes happens when the immune system of the body fighting infection, attacks and destroys the insulin-producing beta cells of the pancreas. Investigators think type 1 diabetes is caused by genes and environmental factors, such as viruses, that might trigger the disease.

Causes of type 2 diabetesType 2 diabetes is the most common type of Diabetes found in humans, and several factors contribute to the causes of this type, which are as follows.

Lack of physical activity: Once a person becomes overweight or obese, they are prone to a lot of diseases because of slow metabolism of the body. Therefore if you are physically inactive, then Diabetes might engulf you too.

Insulin Resistance: Type 2 diabetes has a lot to do with insulin resistance when the liver is not able to churn the fats adequately. Then this disease is at hazardous risk of occurrence.

Family History and Genes: This might be in your genes, it has been experimentally proven that Diabetes can flow from parent to child via genes, and sometimes due to a genetic mutation.
