Having A Panic Attack Right Now: How To Come Down From An Anxiety Attack

If you're trying to treat panic disorder at the moment, then I know how tough that is. I lived with the same problems for many years, going right back to my childhood. And one of the things I discovered during my long battle with anxiety was how much a lot of the treatment options cost.

I'm not just talking medication, either - although obviously that can add up over time if you need to take sedatives or anti-depressants over many years. But think about the other options. Seeing a psychiatrist or psychologist isn't cheap at all, and you often have to see them for many months or even years, all with no guarantee that it will provide any relief for you at all.

What can you do to stop constant anxiety and fear? Is it possible to stop panic attacks without medication?

To learn the killer, advanced methods to stop fears, phobias and anxieties, simply click here!

You can also treat panic disorder yourself by doing things such as reading books , and buying self-help courses on CDs and DVDs. But those options aren't cheap either. So I'd like to let you in on a little secret that you might not be aware of. And it's a secret that will let you treat panic disorder for free.

Have you ever heard the term "public domain"?

That's the name given to any kind of information that was first published more than 70 years ago. Anything published before that time is completely free to access to anyone. And now, thanks to the Internet, we all have immediate access to this old and valuable material.

Books like "Think and Grow Rich" (a book you should read if you have anxiety or panic-related problems) can be found online for free with a simple search. Books by Sigmund Freud are all public domain and you can access them for free. Books like "The Story of My Life" by Helen Keller (another must read for you) is also completely free for you to access right now.

These are wonderful options at your disposal when you need to treat panic disorder on a tight budget. Search around using the term "public domain" and see what else you can find. It's amazing the help we have available to us that doesn't cost a thing.

So you suffer from panic attacks and want to know how to stop them?

I understand how you feel because I used to have panic attacks that would spring up without notice leaving me extremely frightened. But I learned how to defeat them and so will you if you follow my lead...

And we aren't alone. Did you know, for instance, that nearly 33% of Americans have at least one panic attack, with many having more? And that nearly 1 in every 75 people throughout the world will have an attack during their lifetime? So we definitely aren't alone!

Now, if that many people are having panic attacks around us, how come we aren't aware of it? This is most probably because there seems to be a bit of a stigma about having panic attacks. It's looked upon as some sort of 'weakness' or 'mental' instability, so sufferers just suffer in silence.

I'm here to tell you not to. I'm not ashamed to speak about it, and neither should you. Panic (or anxiety) attacks is just a condition that can be treated like any other condition or ailment...

Now most treatments consist of prescribed drugs like tranquilizers, antidepressants and beta-blockers. But they tend to treat your symptoms, not the underlying cause(s). And, let's be honest here, who wants to go around in a daze whilst taking them, plus, who wants to suffer those horrible side effects?

That's why more and more people like you and me are turning to natural remedies to help stop their anxiety attacks.

Now, there are many things you can do, but I have listed just 3 here that I believe to be the top 3 things that you can do during an attack, which if they don't actually stop it in its tracks, will certainly make the symptoms less intense and the time period much shorter...

REVEALED!!! The Discovery That Is Putting an End To Social Anxiety & Shyness

(1) At the onset of an attack repeat to yourself that you know what it is, that it can't harm you, you aren't about to die, and, it will soon pass. It's a medical fact that anxiety attacks cannot harm you! Never forget that!

(2) Start to get your breathing back to normal as fast as possible. During an attack, you hyperventilate, which upsets the important oxygen / carbon dioxide ratio in your body. One of the fastest ways is to re-breath into a paper bag. Hint: why don't you carry one around with you?

(3) If you just focus on your symptoms during a panic attack, you'll only make things worse, because they are so frightening. Focus hard on things you see around you, this is really important.

Now, there are more techniques, but I found that these 3 are the most effective, certainly at reducing the length of time and intensity of a panic attack.

But what about stopping them altogether? Surely that's the real objective? Well, to do that, you need to first get rid of your fear of having panic attacks, because this fear -- which can be in your subconscious or you could be fully aware of it -- can actually trigger anxiety attacks by itself!

You can't breathe, your thoughts are racing, and you might even feel like you're having a heart attack. You've tried medication, but it's not working like it used to--or it never worked at all. You can't stand the anxiety and panic any more, and you want a solution that works: Click Here

A panic attack while driving? How terrifying that is, and I know because it's happened to me! If you've suffered the same then I know just what it was like for you. Panic attacks can spring up anywhere, anytime and scare the life out of you, but while driving has to be the most frightening.

To make things even worse, many folks, particularly women who are 2 to 3 times more likely to have panic attacks than men, have had such a bad experience that they don't drive anymore. And that's tough in today's fast moving society!

Luckily there are a number of simple things you can do to stop -- or at least control -- panic attacks whilst driving...

1. The first thing is not to panic. Easier said than done right? Well, not if you remember that panic attacks cannot cause you any harm whatsoever. A medical fact! So, at the first signs of an attack, repeat that to yourself and face the attack head-on, don't try to run away from it.

2. Once you realise what the initial symptoms are, and that they will not harm you, you're in a better position to take the correct steps. And the first is to find a place that you can safely pull into to park up.

3. Open the windows, release your seat belt and relax in your seat, putting it back if necessary. Now start to normalise your breathing which will be very fast and shallow during an attack. Do this by breathing slowly, deeply and regularly in the nose and out the mouth, using your diaphragm as well as your chest.

4. If you have a paper bag, then re-breathe in this (covering your mouth and nose). This is similar to 3. above, but can re-balance the oxygen / carbon dioxide in your body much faster.

5. Forget about your panic attack symptoms by focussing externally rather than internally. If you continue 'worrying' about your symptoms, they will only get worse and last longer. Turn on the radio / DVD player. Focus on physical things both inside and outside the car.

6. You should now be able to get out of the car (check that it's safe to do so first) and perhaps walk a few steps. Continue your deep, steady breathing, and keep focussing externally.

7. You should now be over the worst of it, but I would wait until you're completely over it before attempting to drive. Make sure all your senses and faculties are working correctly. Better still, you may want to 'phone somebody to come meet you, if possible.

These techniques will help to reduce the effect of your panic attack whilst driving.

But, for those of you who are terrified of driving, you really need to face a critical issue, and that is that it's your very fear that can trigger an actual panic attack. So you definitely need to eliminate that fear if you want to get behind the wheel again, and get back to normal.

Agoraphobia is defined as a condition where the sufferer is afraid to go to public places; especially those which he or she feels would be difficult to get away from. Technical Definition of Agoraphobia

Technically, the definition of agoraphobia is "fear of the marketplace." To a certain extent, this is a very accurate description because he or she is often afraid to go into places such as supermarkets. However, it is not 100% accurate because there are a wide variety of places the sufferer will keep away from.

It is also common for the sufferer of this condition to be afraid of wide-open spaces, or going outdoors at all. Such a person is very likely to stay home. Many think this is the condition most hermits are suffering from. Though it is often thought it is other people hermits are trying to avoid.
