Meta Description: Much of the country and the world have experienced shock and fear in the aftermath of election night 2016. Four years of Donald Trump, Should You Worry?

Was it 9/11 or 11/9?This was one of the reactions I read while browsing the media coverage of 2016 presidential election results.

After Donald Trump’s improbable victory for our government’s top position, approximately half of our great nation stood astonished, perplexed, and in utter disbelief.I felt for those expressing fear and uncertainty about their perception of what four years of Donald Trump meant. From women and minorities are in trouble, to equating the results with the devastation of 9/11.

I voted as I always do, I submitted my vote for write in candidate Pat Paulsen from Asti, CA. Seriously, the neurological explanation of how hypnosis works is that by accessing the subconscious mind, we can alter our perception of perceived fears and limiting beliefs.

Contrary to popular belief, when a subject is in a hypnotic trance, they’re really not literally in a trance nor are they asleep. Hypnosis induction is a matter of placing the subject into a very relaxed state which allows for increased focus and concentration.

Once you dispel all the myths, it becomes quite apparent this complementary integrative tool is quite amazing!

Creating New Neural PathwaysIn the subconscious mind lives all issues, trauma, beliefs, anger, hurt, or fears that have been learned and established in the form of neural pathways.

Hypnosis is the easiest way to make changes in the subconscious mind. Here, with the use of imagery, metaphors, transformation interactions, and suggestion, it becomes possible to create new neural pathways.

Hypnosis is to our perception what a telescope is to the naked eye. Hypnosis allows for better focus and concentration on any issue for the purpose of change.

It was in a college psychology class that I was introduced to the concept of the Johari window. The window is separated into four sections which represent how I see something, how you see something, how others see something, and how something really is.

This is the essence of everyone’s perception. We all possess our own reality, different from everyone else, but it is a shared reality. Through hypnosis , the practitioner offers the subconscious mind alternative ways of seeing reality, which effects change.

Dr. David Spiegel is director of the Center on Stress and Health and medical director of the Center for Integrative Medicine at Stanford University.

He spoke on new research in hypnosis during the Integrative Medicine Research Lecture Series presented by the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health.

He explained, when hypnotized you put outside of awareness what would normally be in consciousness (dissociation), and it becomes less likely to judge what other people tell you (suggestibility).

The idea of this often makes people nervous, because we are evolved to respond to nuanced social cues. But a growing body of scientific evidence suggests that overcoming this nervousness can yield a wealth of health benefits.

A Message for the LosersAt the risk of alienating half the population of the USA, those that voted for the other candidates, my point is this. Everyone’s brain creates its own reality based on perception and belief, and I am free to choose my own reality, but I respect yours.

In the post-election aftermath, verbal slurs and derogatory epitaphs at Trump supporters got me thinking. I think democracy is a pretty good thing. Speaking as a minority member of our free society, I readily accept the reality that elections create winners and losers.

Afformations are empowering questions winners ask of themselves. Affirmations are empowering statements.

Why do I have such trust in democracy and have such deep love for my country?

Through self hypnosis, I am able to see the positive side of Pat Paulsen losing the election once again. By giving myself alternate scenarios and beliefs about the new man taking the reins as our commander and chief, I can be content.

By altering my perception of the election outcome, I have changed my outlook of the coming four years. In fact, I am preparing for President Trumps second term, it could happen.

Why am I so resilient and strong in the face of unexpected change?

The law of attraction says what you resist, persists. There’s no resistance here. And I am a healthier individual as a result. Our perceptions are in a constant state of change or shifting in some way, changing our beliefs in the wink of an eye.

The point is, there is no true perception. But if your perceptions are affecting your health and well being, keep in mind hypnosis can offer a solution, or at the very least, relief.

Why do I trust in my ability to attract fulfillment and abundance into my life?

We in the hypnotism community realize hypnosis is no magic wand, and it doesn’t work for everyone. You’ll never know if it can help you, unless you try. Heck, four years is like four minutes when you reach my age, and I don’t have four minutes to squander by worrying and complaining about something I have no control over.
