As a pregnant woman, there are so many to do lists and tasks that you need to get accomplished. From making sure that your purchase a firm enough baby mattress for your newborn to supplying the nursery with enough diapers, it seems like there is so much to do in a single day and not enough time to do it.

Unfortunately with all of this stress, many pregnant women are faced with the challenge of properly nourishing their bodies so that the baby can get the nutrients that it needs. With so many other things going on in your life, it may be challenging to find the time to research what foods you should avoid as a pregnant woman.

Do not fear, all the work has already been done for you. Just sit back, put your feet up, and read on.

To begin with, soft cheeses are something that pregnant women should avoid. Many soft cheeses contain unpasteurized milk and the combination has been linked to many miscarriages, illnesses, and even deaths.

Next, as much you may love it, avoid undercooked meat at all costs. This applies to steaks and of course ground beef as well. Undercooked meats tend to have more bacteria in them and they will make both you and your baby feel sick to your stomach—and it is not like you were already feeling that way anyway!

Also be careful when it comes to picking the juice that you drink. Many fresh fruit juices are not pasteurized, which can lead to you consuming more bacteria.

Basically as a rule of thumb, never eat anything that is unpasteurized as a pregnant woman. Pasteurized foods mean that they have been sprayed to avoid bacteria and other germs getting onto your food. If something is unpasteurized, who knows what kind of bacteria can be lurking in even the sweetest of foods.

Sushi is another one of those foods that you are going to want to avoid at all costs. Rationalizing that it has proteins in it will do you no good, can you guess why?

Indeed, you are right! Sushi contains many bacteria and parasites…something that you probably do not want to feed your child.

Last but not least is the delicious treat of raw cookie dough. Everyone has eaten it a time or two, but as a pregnant woman this is a risk that you do not even want to take.

If you cannot handle going without your cookie dough, they have cookie dough ice cream at most stores that will probably give you the same happy feeling that cookie dough does.

The choice is ultimately up to you, but if you want to give your child every opportunity in life that they deserve, it is best to avoid these foods.
