If there was one product that could help you reduce your risk of diabetes and heart disease, would you purchase it? There is lots of information floating around in the field of medicine, health and nutrition , but how much of it is true? Whom can you trust?

After a decade of studying biochemistry and the health sciences, I have come to the conclusion that omega 3 supplements are not only the most important supplements to take on a daily basis, they are essential.

In recent years, study after study has shown that concentrated fish oil can improve health and prevent disease. Now, a new exciting study published in the European Journal of clinical nutrition has shown yet again that a high intake of omega-3 fatty acids in the diet helps prevent both diabetes (and its long list of related complications) and heart disease .

Researchers at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks studied the dietary habits and health status of the indigenous yupik eskimos. What they found was that the incidence of diabetes in this group of people was only 3.3%, compared to 7.7% in the general American population and that their rates of heart disease was also much lower. The astonishing fact in all this is that 70% of the yupik people are actually overweight or downright obese!

Their natural diet is very high in fat, especially DHA and EPA, the two omega-3 fatty acids found in fish. They consume large amounts of salmon, one of the best sources of DHA in nature. This high intake in fatty acids actually protects them from the negative effects of obesity .

So what of the rest of us supposed to do, if we don't live in Alaska and don't have unlimited access to clean sockeye salmon? Most of the fish found in supermarkets is contaminated with heavy metals, or, in some ways even worse, is raised on fish farms where the fish eat ground up fish bones and antibiotics. The result of this is that the fish actually have very low levels of the very omega-3 fatty acids that we need to prevent disease.

The solution is to take pure concentrated fish oil capsules as a supplement on a daily basis. A high-quality DHA supplement actually provides more omega 3's than does eating fish, it does away with the heavy metals by using a process called molecular distillation and is much more convenient and cheaper than eating the quantity of high-quality fish that Eskimos eat.

I believe that the best thing you can do for your health is to select a top-quality, pure concentrated fish oil and to take it every single day.
