How to clean nail polish stains from your white marble vanity?

Nail polishes can stain your marble counter if left untreated for a long period. And thus, you must take care of it at the earliest. Nail polish is a type of lacquer. And nail polish remover can remove these from most of the surfaces including your marble counters. But since the marble is porous, it may get discoloured after using nail paint remover on them. Hence, you should follow the right steps when removing nail paint from your marble vanity. And here’s a step-by-step guide,

  1. First, start with gathering the items you’ll need. Here’re those,
  1. Clean rags
  2. Acetone
  3. 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
  4. Clean water
  1. Once you’ve gathered everything, start by emptying the bathroom vanity and letting the nail paint dry.
  1. Now soak a rag with acetone and dab it on the nail paint to remove it from the vanity top. Repeat doing the same until the rag turns the same colour as the nail polish from the surface.
  1. Now take another rag and damp it with acetone like in the previous step. Place it on the nail paint on your marble vanity and leave it for about 5 minutes.
  1. Then turn the rug over and moisten that part with the solvent.
  1. Now wipe the surface with that side of the rug to remove as much nail paint as you can.
  1. Once done, mix 1 ounce of 3% hydrogen peroxide with ½ cup of plain water. Stir it in a teaspoon of a gentle detergent.
  1. Soak the other rag with this solution and lay it on the nail polish stain. Then cover it with another damp rag.
  1. Leave the poultice on the nail polish stain until it bleaches out the discolouration of the vanity.
  1. Once you’re certain that the nail polish stain has gone, remove the poultice and rinse the area with clean water and let it dry.

N.B.: If your bathroom marble vanity has got a finish, the nail polish won’t soak into it. Hence, you can remove it just by dabbing it with acetone. You don’t have to do the rubbing part, as it can damage your marble finishing.
