The one thing everyone needs in a home is a phone line, if you have no phone line; the only way to contact you is by letter or physically knocking on your door.

There are many issues with not having a phone line, chiefly that you cannot be contacted, or contact other people in a short time span. This can be a great problem if you work from home and need to transmit information to others quickly and easily. You may argue that you have an internet connection and so don’t need to contact others by phone. But you would be missing the point of the phone; clearer communication.

Other than speaking face to face, in a way that can transmit a complete picture of you commutation desires, the phone is the next best method of communicating information.

Emotional clues

If you think about it, how can you tell someone’s emotion when they are sending you an email? Aside from writing in capital letters or italics to denote anger or sarcasm, there is no way to work out the writer’s emotional tone when things are put down in black and white. This is where the phone wins the day.

With a landline phone, such as one using a phone line, one can say the same words that they would have in an email, but infuse these words with emotions that get a stronger and clearer message across. This means that there will be less confusion on matters that are important, so speeding up communication and workload success.

Aside from work related matters, having a phone line or similar will allow you to contact people in an immediate sense that isn’t available via email. With an email, you can never be sure that the intended recipient had got the email message, however with a phone call; the recipient is required to pick up and answer the call immediately. This means that the caller will know that they have or haven’t received the message, as they will be talking to the person on the other end of the line.

The advantages

For this very reason, phone lines are advantageous. You may also argue that you have a mobile phone, so anyone can reach you at anytime anywhere. This is true, and mobile phones are a wonderful invention. However, you may have noticed that at least on one occasion you’ve not been able to charge your mobile phone and it has run out of battery charge, thus leaving you un-contactable.

With a fixed phone line, your phone can never run out of charge and so you are always contactable. This is another of the great advantages that the fixed phone line has, meaning that you should consider it an essential fixture in your home.
