Looking at the title of this article, most people get very different pictures in their heads when they think of the words “prayers” or “spells”. Ask yourself honestly, when you first saw that title, did you get instant pictures or expectations in mind when looking at those words? Most people do.

For the majority, the word “prayers” tends to create a mental picture consisting of a devout, religious person, on their knees begging for something, hoping, but not really expecting to receive what is being asked for. They often feel like “unworthy sinners” who couldn’t possibly deserve what they are asking for.

When most people hear the word “spells”, it conjures up in their minds pictures of naked women dancing around a fire, making sacrifices to unknown Gods and Goddesses, conjuring up spirits, and brewing herbs and animal parts in a huge cauldron over a roaring fire.

Some people might think that a prayer is a request made to God, while a spell is a request made to Satan. That could not be further from the truth! People who cast spells do not worship Satan, in fact they don’t even believe in Satan, which I have covered in another article entitled “What is Real Witchcraft”. People who cast spells believe in one All Powerful Force of Good that is capable of helping us to create better lives, healthier bodies and happier relationships. This one All Powerful Force is know by many names in many different religions. Just because something is called by more than one name, does not change what it is. If I call it a “sofa“, and you call it a “couch“, and another person does that in any way change what we’re both sitting on? Of course not!

Hollywood cares more about dramatization than they do the truth. Just because that’s what ignorant people prefer to illustrate in movies, does NOT automatically make it true!

You see, spells are a form of prayer. That statement is so important, I feel a need to repeat it; spells are a form of prayer! So what's the difference? A prayer is usually said in a please, please, help me sort of way, said with the palms of the hands together, which closes the energy circuit. Spells are usually worded in such a way as to be a command rather than pleading. The hands are open palms up, sending the energy of the request outward to the All-Mighty Source that can provide the answer. So a prayer might be stated thus, "Please, Lord, if you can hear me, please help me find a better job so I can make more money. I know I am a horrible sinner who doesn't really deserve a better job, and I know money is evil and I shouldn't want more of it, but I really need your help." A spell, on the other hand might be worded thus, "Show me the way to a better job that utilizes my strengths and abilities, a job that helps others and is fulfilling to me. Light my path to the best job for me, making more money, with room to grow and learn so that I will become a better person." They sound just a little different, don't they? And, amazingly, people wonder why spells work when prayers failed!

In short, the biggest difference between spells and prayers is in the perspective of the one making the request, how they see themselves, and how they perceive the Source of Power they are making the request of.
