In 1995, Mark Channon created a memory improvement game show for BBC1 called Monkhouses Memory Masters and came sixth in the World Memory Championship, ranking 3rd in the world as one of the first International Grand Masters of Memory. In the competition there was a one hour event in which you had to memorize the order of as many random digits as possible; he correctly remembered 744 numbers sequentially. He also successfully memorized the order of a newly shuffled pack of cards in 1.5 minutes. Now Mark share's his memorization skills through his websites, personal coaching and live events at Memory School and markchannon.com .

It all began in 1990, when a friend loaned me an audio version of a memory course. I became fascinated with memory improvement and honed my memory techniques for the next four years. By 1994, while working as an actor in a West End production of 'Crazy for you', I came up with an idea for a television show called Memory Masters in which I trained 30 contestants in the art of memory improvement techniques. Shortly after I took the idea to a game show production company (Action Time) and within 10 months it had a weekly slot on BBC1 and was hosted by Bob Monkhouse.

Memorization is traditionally associated with learning 'tricks', but I wanted to change that. Over the years my focus has been working on the application of memory improvement techniques and mind mapping in everyday life to enhance every skills like memorizing names, helping your kids with education or progressing your career in business.

Although I don't refer to this training as a new method I do believe that this is 'A new way of thinking' for most people, focusing on the application of memory improvement techniques in the real world through harnessing your natural imagination and association skills.

This is a very exciting time for us. For years memory improvement techniques have been misunderstood and have never been properly utilized by the masses. I guarantee you if kids were taught to think this way at school the effects would be awesome. Our goal at Memory School and markchannon.com is to support all your memory improvement needs and open your mind to a new way of thinking about and using memory techniques which makes their application infinitely more useful.

Memory School offers a free interactive memory improvement course to get you started and is available when you sign up to their newsletter .
