There is an old song that is in the pubic domain. It is titled, “Softly and Tenderly”. The words are as follows:

Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling for you and for meHe’s waiting and watching
Watching for you and for me

Why should we tarry
When Jesus is pleading
Pleading for you and for me
Why should we linger
And heed not His mercies
Mercies for you and for me

Come home, come home
Ye who are weary come home
Earnestly, tenderly
Jesus is calling
Calling for you and for me

He is calling, calling
Calling for you and for me
He is calling, calling
Calling for you and for me
Come home, come home
Ye who are weary come home, come home
Earnestly, tenderly
Jesus is calling
Calling for you and for me

I love that song. I love the words. It’s an old standard. I have no idea who wrote the words, but they refresh me and show forth the goodness of God. Come home. No matter what we have done, God wants His children home. Oftentimes, earthly parents will not forgive children, but it is such a comfort to know that Jesus always forgives.

Has Jesus ever called you back home? Is He calling you at this moment? I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior when I was a toddler but I have strayed from Him during the course of my life. In every case, my “Daddy”, my Abba Father has called me back home. Can you relate?

Never will I forget an instance in particular when He called me home. I had gone so far off course that it was not even funny. I was in church. I attended every week but I was not being convicted. He gave me a dream which showed me some things. That dream brought me back to reality and the dream brought me “home” to Jesus Christ.

God loves us all equally. Just as He brought me home, He desires to bring all of His children home. It is not His desire that any of us perish but that we all will have everlasting life, and that more abundantly.

Have you left home? Have you left the church, the Lord, and all things that represent holiness? Come home. No sin is too dirty for the blood of God to cover. Come home. Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling. Will you answer? He's calling all sinners, "Come home....."
