“Emotional Fitness Coaching; what’s that?” That’s a common reaction when I describe what we do at the Centre for Inner Balancing. Another reaction is, “but I don’t think there’s much wrong with me.”

Indeed, there’s nothing wrong with any of us, and it’s also true that we could all grow beyond who we are right now. More years ago than I can now recall, my initial training was in the field of therapy. The received wisdom then was that we all needed therapy and we all had to delve back into our past “traumas” to help us to become healthy. I now believe that while we can learn a tremendous amount about ourselves from revisiting key aspects of our past, the purpose is to tap into our core emotional being. That is the essence of who we are.

Once we begin to unlock that unique essence, we have given ourselves permission to be authentic, to do those things that we may have held back from in the past, and to create for ourselves the very special life that we are here to live.

Over the past month, I have heard from friends of close family members of theirs who have suddenly died. Each person who has told me of their experience has said how much this has changed their perspective of life in terms of what is important. We don’t need to wait until someone dies. Growth can take place any time you are ready for it. It’s beyond therapy – it’s the discovery of who you really are, combined with the tools to empower you to be that person.

That’s how I became engaged in what is now Emotional Fitness , and why I train as many people as I can to become Emotional Fitness Coaches.

In Peace and Love
