Every starter home needs a bunch of Ikea stuff. Not only is Ikea cheap, it’s also clean, simple and classy. Everything sounds positive but there’s actually something negative here. Because Ikea is all those things, chances are most starter houses have it too. There’s nothing wrong with that but I’m guessing you would want your house to be your own. You want your house to have its individual personality and spunk.

One way to make furniture totally your own is by spicing up the Ikea furniture feet. There are two ways to do this. First, you can paint the legs. Either you just give it a pop of color or you try the more meticulous designs on it. The other way is to simply change the furniture legs with those you can buy in furniture stores. There are so many kinds that can give your furniture—whether a table, chair, bed or cabinet—its own distinct personality. Here are five furniture feet to buy or DIY (do it yourself).

1. Color-dipped DIY

This works on any furniture feet you buy. You just dip the bottom half of the leg on any color you want. Say you have a black couch, dipping the legs in a gold paint will give it glamorous and classic look. Or you might have a brown table and you don’t want it to look boring. Dip the legs in orange or neon paint and boring will be the last word that would ever describe that table again. Or the color will depend on the overall motif of the room.

2. Pretty pegs

Ikea has some pegs of different colors. Look around the room you want to update and check the colors available for legs for Ikea furniture. Then identify the color that would work best in the room. If the entire room is just neutral, it’s better you get something loud like hot pink or bright red. But if the room is colorful enough, the black or white will balance everything out.

3. Hairpin legs

These are fun because it’s a different look. As the name implies, the hairpin legs are thin. These are usually put on tables or chairs. Guaranteed, the furniture will be the room’s center of attention. Guests will not be able to help themselves. The legs would be the first thing they will notice no matter how expensive your decors are in a particular room. There are also a variety of colors to choose from.

4. Dipped leg stool

You can buy a cheap stool and just update its look by dipping its legs on a paint of your preference. This is the same as the first one except you buy the whole stool in this example.

5. Geometric legs

These furniture legs for Ikea take on a nice shape so that it’s impossible not to notice them. But in order to make them more attractive, it is advisable that you color the legs to emphasize their unique shape.

These are five reasons why Ikea furniture is such a hit. Most people buy it because it’s affordable and the creative people purchase it because it welcomes creativity .
