Conventional methods of taming eczema have been tried by many. However, while there are many who who have tried conventional methods, there are just as many who are fed up with the so called traditional eczema treatments and the side effects associated with them, including myself. My daughter has suffered with eczema and the typical treatments did more harm than good.

If you are seeking natural treatments for eczema, there are plenty of natural remedies for eczema available that you can find success with. You can try them alone or in conjunction with on another. Below you will find a nice list of options to try.

Natural Treatments for Eczema:

1. Oatmeal baths with fresh steel cut oatmeal to aid with itching
2. Avoid rubbing your face. Always pat your skin dry with a clean towel.
3. Pure therapeutic grade Juniper essential oil, known to reduce the severity of eczema
4. Use of non-drying, non-irritating products without alcohol and harsh chemicals
5. Shark cartilage capsules to help control itching
6. Pure vitamin E applied directly to the skin. Open the capsules and apply directly. Do not buy synthetic.
7. Extract from blueberry leaves which are naturally anti-inflammatory - you can also get a lotion from your local health store or an alternative medicine provider
8. Two teaspoons of Flax Seed Oil daily as a preventative or along with other treatments to reduce itching and swelling
9. A smooth paste of nutmeg seeds and hot water and applied to affected skin
10. Certified organic coconut oil applied directly to skin

Different people respond differently to natural remedies for eczema, I'd like to share the one that worked best for my daughter. She daily uses a handmade organic shea butter and soy body balm with sweet orange essential oil. Initially she used the unscented version but it was the sweet orange oil in the balm that did it for her and she's been eczema free for almost 7 months.

Sweet Orange essential oil is soothing to dry, irritated skin and supports collagen formation which is necessary to have healthy skin. I highly recommend the organic shea butter and soy balm for people suffering from eczema because I've tried many other remedies and have had the most success with this product.
